Rest your tired body against the sheet,
Let your creased brow sink into the pillow
And pray the hummingbird visits in your sleep.
Somewhere in the half light,
Among the lemon groves,
Down by the waters edge,
Or where the honeysuckle grows.
A brief flicker of translucent light,
The inaudible beating of wings
Such a wondrous vision to behold
To see the hummingbird in flight.
